Room categories at Sandals

One of the questions we get most often from our clients “what is the difference in the room categories at Sandals?” Yes, Sandals has LOTS of different room categories with names that can really be a mouthful. So how do you choose what’s best for you?

Our Sandals Specialists have been all the Sandals resorts and stayed in almost every room category from the entry level to the top level butler suites. Each is different based on the resort, with biggest differences being room location and amenities, followed by layout of the room itself.

Deluxe and premium rooms are the the entry level room categories and also the least priced. These rooms have all the features you’d expect including a king bed, A/C, blowdryer, bath amenities, safe, iron and ironing board plus a mini fridge stocked with water, soft drinks and fruit juices, all included. Some of these rooms (again, depending on resort) do not have a balcony or patio, and deluxe and premium rooms do not offer room service included. Deluxe and premium rooms are typically gardenview and in locations farther from the beach, restaurants and activity areas (with the exception of Sandals South Coast, where all rooms are oceanview and beachfront).

Club level rooms include bathrobes to use during your stay, a fully stocked in room bar with wine, beer and liquor along with the sodas, juices and bottled water. There’s a Club Sandals lounge where guests staying in a club category are offered private check-in, welcome cocktails and snacks, a coffee and tea station, kindles for reading and a selection of board games. A club concierge is available to assist with any spa, tour and restaurant reservations you may need (but hopefully you’ve had us book your spa appointments and tours in advance!). Almost every club level room has a patio or balcony, and room service is typically included from 7 am to 10 pm (with the exception of Sandals Halcyon, room service is only available in the butler serviced category at this time). Location may be spread throughout the resort (we can advise you of room category location at your particular resort, just ask!)

Butler suites are top categories with prime locations on resort and special amenities like a private pool, tub on the balcony, upgraded bathroom or separate living room and bedroom areas. And of course…your own personal butlers to bring your vacation dreams to life! Some of our favorites are:

Your stay in a Sandals butler suite can be completely customized prior to your arrival with the completion of a butler preference form, and you get to enjoy the service of your own personal butlers on call day and night.

So what exactly does a butler do and is it worth it? Just a few examples of Sandals butler service:

• Unpack your clothing and other items upon arrival (yes I can tell you firsthand although it may be a bit awkward at first it’s an AMAZING feeling to have this done for you and be able to get your vacation underway the minute you hit the resort!). The butler can also pack for your departure, giving you the opportunity to maximize every single minute of your beach time.

• Serve your favorite breakfast in bed (every day if you wish!)

• Reserve your chairs by the pool or on the beach so you can sleep in and still enjoy your favorite spot

• Realize you’ve forgotten something in your room when you got to the beach? No problem, one call from your butler phone and it’s taken care of

• Book any spa treatments, excursions or other things you may not have secured in advance

• Bring you fresh fruit and snacks/drinks while you’re lounging on the beach

• Reserve your special table for dinner and personally escort you

• Arrange a romantic candlelight dinner for two in your suite

• Draw a bubble bath with candles and rose petals to enjoy a romantic evening together

• Arrange something special to celebrate an anniversary or birthday

This all sounds amazing, right? Well, it is!

So you decide to book a butler suite but still have a few questions. Here’s a few of the most frequently asked questions we get asked about Sandals butler service:

How do I reach my butler when I’m not in my suite? Your butler will provide a special cell phone upon arrival so that you can reach them at any time day or night
How do the butlers work? Typically you’ll have 2 butlers that work as a team to provide service 7 days a week from early morning to late evening and are “on call” as needed. Your butler will also check in several times each day to ensure your needs are met, anything requiring advanced plans is arranged and reservations are coordinated. At the end of your stay your butler will assist with check out, luggage and airport transfers.
How will my butler know what I like and want? A few weeks prior to your arrival on property, we’ll email you a butler preference form (or you can fill one out here) where you can detail things like what types of food and drink you like, what activities you want to do, if you’re celebrating a special occasion, just about anything you want to let your butlers know so they can personalize your stay before you even get there!
What about tipping my butlers? At Sandals and Beaches resorts tipping is not allowed but butlers are the exception to that rule and most guests find $20-40 day an appropriate amount. Guests making extensive use of butler services want to tip a higher amount, and if you don’t interact very much with the butler you may prefer to leave a more nominal tip. Tips can be paid in cash directly to each butler (no reason to tip until the end of your stay) or can be paid by credit card when you check out.
