In October 2013, Sandals resorts made the exciting announcement that they had acquired a hotel in St Lawrence, Barbados and were re-branding it to become Sandals Barbados. I was so excited to learn of the addition of this resort to the Sandals portfolio, as I had just visited the beautiful island of Barbados a few short months before the announcement and had the pleasure of seeing this property. When touring the resort, I kept thinking in the back of my mind “this would make a perfect Sandals resort” and wishing that someday they would expand to include this amazing destination. Well, wishes do come true!
Sandals Barbados is now set to temporarily close its doors to undergo an extensive enhancement and renovation program.
Starting on April 1st, the wide-ranging renovations will include:
- the introduction of seven new gourmet restaurants bringing the total to ten
- total refurbishment of the resort’s 280 existing rooms
- major enhancement including all of the resort’s public areas
- addition of an exclusive Club Sandals lounge and departure lounge
- an expanded Red Lane spa
The new look resort will feature an exclusively-designed wedding garden, Sandals Signature Swim Up Pool Bar, fire pits and magnificent beachfront whirlpool. The resort will also launch a new attraction program that is expected to see more and more guests venture out to experience Barbados as a destination.
‘Foodies’ will be thrilled too with the launch of Sandals highly-acclaimed Discovery Dining program that will now include new restaurant concepts such Butch’s Chophouse, French-style patisserie Café de Paris, ‘Soy’ Japanese and Sandals first ever Indian restaurant. Additionally, new kitchens and back-of-house areas will help to deliver the highest level of Sandals service ever seen.
Two brand new tennis courts, eight new elevators, state-of-the-art Wi-Fi capabilities and brand new back-of-house facilities, that will see the introduction of Sandals English Guild-trained butlers to Barbados for the first time, will complete the magic.
Sandals Barbados is scheduled to reopen in December, 2014.
